The Source Bulk Foods
If you’ve ever wandered down St John's Road in London and stumbled upon number 99, chances are you’ve seen the earthy storefront of The Source Bulk Foods-a place that feels more like a conscious lifestyle hub than your typical food retailer. What makes this spot different? It’s not just about food-it’s about rethinking how we consume, waste, and live, one scoop at a time.
Walking in, you’re instantly welcomed by the natural, calming vibe-think exposed wood shelving, glass jars filled with vibrant grains, herbs, and snacks, and the subtle aroma of fresh nuts and spices. It’s minimal yet inviting. The Source Bulk Foods isn’t about flashy packaging or impulse buys; it’s about mindfulness. The moment you grab a paper bag and start scooping your own almonds or lentils, you realize you’re taking part in something intentional.
This place operates with purpose. It proudly identifies as women-owned, and there’s a strong sense of community in how it’s run. The staff know their stuff, offering helpful tips on how to swap out pantry staples for healthier, more eco-conscious alternatives. Whether you’re plant-based, gluten-free, or just trying to eat clean, there’s something for every kind of diet here. And if you're into superfoods, they've got shelves packed with chia seeds, cacao nibs, goji berries-the whole wellness arsenal.
The selection goes far beyond nuts and grains, though. You’ll find cold-pressed oils, natural sweeteners, handmade soaps, reusable kitchen tools, and sustainable lifestyle products you didn’t know you needed until now. It’s this unique blend of food and eco-living that positions The Source Bulk Foods as more than a shop-it’s part grocer, part educator, part changemaker.
What’s even more refreshing is how it caters to real, modern lives. The same-day delivery and no-contact delivery services make it ridiculously easy for busy Londoners to get their essentials without compromising on values. Forgot to grab something for dinner? A quick online order and you can have organic lentils and tahini delivered before your evening yoga session. And for those who still love browsing in-store, the in-store pick-up for online orders gives you the best of both worlds-convenience with a dash of that slow-shop satisfaction.
Another thoughtful touch: The Source Bulk Foods is LGBTQ+ friendly and fosters an inclusive space where everyone feels comfortable. It’s subtle but powerful-proof that values of sustainability and equality can (and should) go hand in hand. You won’t find aggressive marketing or judgmental food talk here-just helpful people, conscious products, and a laid-back atmosphere that encourages you to explore at your own pace. In fact, if you're just popping in for a quick top-up on your oat flour or herbal tea, it's designed to be a good-for-a-quick-visit stop too.
Of course, there are some trade-offs. There’s no wheelchair-accessible car park, which might make access trickier for some customers. But once inside, the store layout is clean and open, making it fairly easy to move around. And with so many online services in place, accessibility via digital convenience somewhat balances things out.
In a world overrun by plastic wrappers, ultra-processed foods, and overconsumption, The Source Bulk Foods invites a return to simplicity. It empowers customers to buy just what they need, reduce waste, and support ethical practices-all without losing out on flavour or quality. For anyone exploring a more intentional lifestyle in London, this shop is a breath of fresh air-literally and figuratively.

Amazing find, don’t forget to bring your containers when visiting the area. Tons of delicious snacks and interesting ingredients. The staff are super helpful and friendly. Wa tempted to buy much more, so definitely will be back soon!
Top quality refills across a huge range of delicious and useful household goods, food items, storecupboard staples and more. Friendly, helpful staff and also a lovely shop. Highly recommend.
High quality, zero waste, good variety, reasonable price, friendly staff and owner, amazing customer care. I've been a customer for a few years now. I only shop here now because their muesli and granolas are so delicious and cannot be found elsewhere! They also have all sorts of spices, teas, noodles and many other vegan pantry essentials. I also love their maple syrup One time I had a minor concern with my purchase and the owner addressed it very quickly and was very understanding. It really shows their care for the customers as well as the environment. I would give 3 extra stars if I could
Helpful staff and a great range - including cleaning vinegar, different cooking oils and plenty of hand wash options. The choice of chocolate coated nuts and other sweets is worth admission alone. Once you get the hang of the weighing and packing process it is actually quite efficient - plus you choose exactly how much you want. Little jars for spices are also cheap at £1.20.
I love this place. Refill your own containers or fill up their brown paper bags. Great selection of foods and they have cleaning products too. Bring your own bottles to refill liquids.
